Although Carolina started off the sea
con disastrously, there has been some hard
practice going on at the football grounds
during the past week, and the Garnet and
Black may show up somewhat better in
the fair week game against Davidson than
many think. The first practice game of
the season was with Ridgewood Club,
when the score stood 0 to 0 at the end
of the contest. Then Charleston College
was defeated by a score of 17 to 0. The
strong Georgia eleven beat Carolina 29
to 6, and last Saturday the Charleston
Athletics defeated the University squad
by a score of 15 to 4.
In the bunch of players down at the
University Mac Holmes is the only veteran

weight is 138.
Bill Perrin has been playing the other

played on last year's scrubs and on the
Freshman class team. He is in the Sopho
more class this year and has a bright
football future before him.
Belser will very probably play the full
back position against Davidson. He
played last season at this position dur
ing the short period in which Carolina
had a team in the field. Belser tips the
scales at 150 pounds, and is a hard player.
"Jim" Hammond has been at the quar
terback position. He starred at the Cita
del In 1906 and 1906. Last season he was
with the Charleston Athletics. Hammond
weighs 147 pounds.

member of the track team.
